Planning to learn to drive in your parents car? Do you know about Learner Driver Insurance?

If you are a learner driver or have a son or daughter who is about to embark on learning to drive, you may be wondering what your options are with regard to insurance.

We are able to offer cover for 30, 60 0r 90 days for a learner to drive in their parents car or a family members car, and best of all it won’t affect the parents policy or no claims discount.  It is also very flexible and can often be cheaper than adding the learner onto the parents policy.

What is learner driver insurance?

The policy is designed to sit alongside the main policy that the parent or family member has for the car.

Importantly, this means that if the learner were involved in an accident, it would leave the car owners policy unaffected and it would be the learner driver policy that would kick in if appropriate.

My parents are worried it will affect their insurance…is this right?

No, the great thing about this policy is that it won’t affect the car owners policy.  It is important they keep their own policy in force and then the learner policy will sit alongside this meaning that the car owners policy is unaffected if the learner needs to make a claim

How much will it cost?

The cost varies depending of the car you are learning in.  Quotes are quick and easy based on the car make, model, value and postcode.

Matt can give you a quote on 01432 268 007 or mail@cj-insurance.co.uk

What if I need to claim?

If you need to claim you can call us and speak to Matt on 01432 268 007 who will point you in the right direction. The excess is £250

What happens when I pass my test?

Cover will stop once you pass your test so you will need to get someone to drive you home.

New driver insurance is then available once you have passed your test depending on the car. Quotes are available upon request.

If you have any questions, we are always happy to help and can be contacted via phone or email
